The Peer Group Comparison service for the first time, provides institutions from around the world with a detailed space utilisation report that compares each participating institutions results, by factors such as space types, days and timeslots, central vs department ownership, space norms and timetable vs actual utilisation.
This service also closely links with The Community, Video Tutorials and Live Workshops enabling members to continue discussions, ask each other questions and work together in order to improve each others use of space.
The purpose of this Peer Group Comparison is to provide a resource that each institution can use to understand how their utilisation of space compares to other education institutions around the world. By linking with The Community, each member can discuss the report findings with other institutions, asking questions and working together in order to understand why differences between institutions exist and how these differences be overcome to improve each others space space utilisation.
The Peer Group Comparison report and The Community offer institutions a chance to not only share their space utilisation data, knowledge and experiences but also learn from others. This individual hub of information will enable members to quickly and successfully solve space utilisation issues, using the collective knowledge and experience of all The Space Util Group members.
For example, if your frequency rate is low on a Friday afternoon but you can see via the Peer Group Comparison report that other institutions have recorded a high frequency rate during this time – you can simply ask via The Community how they have achieved this and discuss with members, options you could carry out for improving your frequency rate at this time.
In order to be a part of this Peer Group Comparison feature, each member is required to provide at least 1 weeks of actual teaching space utilisation data as well and fill out a basic information questionnaire. This helps to ensure that each member’s data can be accurately and fairly compared, as well as enabling each member to view background information not picked up by the space utilisation data – i.e. student numbers, size of estate etc.
All members are also encouraged to provide the corresponding week’s timetable data, to enable additional data analysis and comparisons to be made and those that do also have access to the timetable vs actual utilisation comparison section of the report.
The continual development of the Peer Group Comparison Report is also discussed within The Community and fed back into the monthly updates that the Peer Group Comparison report undergoes, therefore ensuring the report provides The Space Util Group members with the information they require. For more information on the report and what it currently includes, take a look at this downloadable Peer Group Comparison Report Structure.
